Here's a look at how some college athletes with local ties fared recently:
CROSS COUNTRY
HANNAH MOEN (Coconino, '08) University of Arizona — The sophomore finished in 64th place at the NCAA West Regional Championships in Eugene, Ore. She finished the 6k course in a time of 22:25.83.
CHLOE PHILLIPS (Flagstaff High, '09) Mississippi State University — The freshman took 88th place at the NCAA South Regional Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala. She finished the 6k course in a time of 22:51.17 and was the fourth highest Bulldog finisher.
SAM ROBISON (Flagstaff High, '07) Northwest Christian University (Ore.) — The junior finished 13th at the Cascade Conference Championships on Nov. 7 and will compete in the NAIA National Championships on Nov. 21 in Vancouver, Wash.
SOCCER
CHRISTINE SCHMELZLE (Coconino, '07) Fort Lewis College (Colo.) — The junior goalkeeper notched one save in the Skyhawks' 2-1 loss to the Colorado School of Mines in the second round of the Division II NCAA Tournament. She finished with a 15-3-3 record on the season.
VOLLEYBALL
MEGAN KAMINSKAS (Flagstaff High '05) High Point University (N.C.) — The senior middle blocker/hitter had eight kills, four digs, one assist and one block in a 3-1 win over Charleston Southern on Friday.
ROSIE STEINHAUS (Flagstaff High, '07) University of Colorado — The redshirt sophomore outside hitter had 12 kills and seven digs in a 3-1 loss to Missouri on Saturday.
BASKETBALL
JESSICA VARGAS (Sinagua, '06) Loyola Marmount (Calif.) — The redshirt junior had 11 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes in a 75-70 win over Long Beach State on Monday.
TJ MANSON (Page, '09) Arizona Western — The freshman had 12 points and 13 rebounds in a 68-60 win over Anoka-Ramsey on Thursday. She had a team-high 17 points in a win over Eastern Utah on Friday.
RYAN HOWLEY (Sinagua, '08) University of California-Davis — The redshirt freshman had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 25 minutes in a 99-79 win over Winston-Salem State on Sunday in Eugene, Ore., in the Basketball Travelers Tip-Off tournament. He had four points and four rebounds in a 91-73 loss to Colorado State in the opening game of the tournament.
PETER CLARK (Sinagua, '09) Whitman College (Wash.) — The freshman poured in 28 points on 8 of 14 shooting from 3-point range in a 120-100 win over Northwest Elite in an exhibition game. He added six rebounds and three assists.
FOOTBALL
JAMES BROOKS (Flagstaff High, '07) Arizona State — The redshirt sophomore defensive end had an interception and returned it 13 yards in the Sun Devils' 44-21 loss to Oregon on Saturday.
BRAD SHEDD (Flagstaff High, '07) Idaho State — The redshirt sophomore offensive tackle played in a reserve role in the Bengals' 41-34 win over Portland State on Saturday.
Ronnie Whitehead (Flagstaff High, '06) Glendale Community College — The sophomore linebacker helped his team to a 6-5 finish on the regular season and will play in the Valley of the Sun Bowl on Dec. 5.
