PHOENIX (AP) — Democrat Barack Obama's campaign plans to open its Arizona headquarters today in downtown Phoenix.
The campaign says it has an unspecified number of paid staff members and thousands of volunteers for its Arizona operation and plans to make a stand here.
Polls have shown that Republican John McCain enjoys a lead over the Democratic nominee, but the Obama campaign questions McCain's strength in his home state.
McCain opened up a regional headquarters in Phoenix about two months ago.
