TUCSON (AP) — A Florida man who worked as car salesman in Southern Arizona has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for bank fraud and identity theft.

Federal prosecutors say 27-year-old John Clement Savage III, of Fort Lauderdale, pleaded guilty to the charges in August and was sentenced Thursday. He also was ordered to pay more than $9,300 in restitution.

Authorities say Savage moved from Florida to Arizona in October 2007 and got a job at Quebedeaux Pontiac car dealership in Tucson, where he had access to customer credit reports.

Prosecutors say Savage stole some reports and used information obtained from two credit card applications to obtain cellphone service and had one victim's mail forwarded to him. They say Savage used information contained in the mail to fraudulently acquire various bank accounts and check services.

Savage was later arrested in Tennessee, where he moved after leaving his Tucson job.
