SUN CITY (AP) — A Glendale couple and their 5-year-old granddaughter escaped a fire in their home early Thursday.
Glendale Fire Department spokesman Daniel Valenzuela said the occupants of the home, in the 7300 block of West Claremont Street, were awake at that time and saw their lights flickering.
The garage was on fire by the time firefighters arrived moments later.
Valenzuela said there were no injuries to firefighters and a lot of damage to the home. A pet Chihuahua was killed in the fire.
Authorities haven't said what caused the fire.
There was a working smoke alarm in the house.
The Glendale Fire Crisis Response Team is helping the family.
