TUCSON (AP) — A Tucson father and his 9-year-old son were hit by a truck as they crossed a street, causing serious injuries to both of them.

The boy was in critical condition with life-threatening head injuries, and his father had serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Tucson police Officer Charles Rydzak says the two were crossing a street in a crosswalk around 10:30 a.m. Sunday when a 36-year-old Tucson man hit them with his 2003 Dodge pickup.

The driver remained at the scene, and the investigation is under way.
