PHOENIX (AP) — More than 57,000 unemployed Arizonans will receive letters next week informing them that they may be eligible for additional compensation.
Arizona Department of Economic Security spokesman Steve Meissner says about 8,000 of those who will get letters have already used up their benefits.
Now, he says, they may be eligible for more money.
The extra benefits were passed by Congress and signed into law earlier this month.
Meissner says not everyone will be eligible to receive extra benefits. He says determining eligibility is complicated and will depend on the number of weeks worked and when an employee worked them.
He says anyone who is eligible for the additional benefits should file weekly claims starting today.
