The driver of a sport-utility vehicle hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk on South Milton Road in Flagstaff during rush hour Tuesday.
The pedestrian was in serious condition undergoing a CAT scan at Flagstaff Medical Center late Tuesday afternoon, said Sgt. Michael Terrin of the Flagstaff Police Department.
Police responded to the collision, which happened at about 4:20 p.m., and closed the southbound lanes of South Milton Road while conducting their investigation. Traffic was rerouted onto South Plaza Way to bypass the scene of the incident
The driver of the SUV was in the process of turning left from westbound Plaza Way into the southbound lanes of South Milton Road. The pedestrian was crossing South Milton Road westbound from the Wells Fargo bank to the Giant convenience store and service station on the southwest corner when the collision happened, Terrin said.
The incident is under investigation.
