Flagstaff CSA, Slow Food NAU, and SSLUG is hosting a seed exchange on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Gardeners and farmers are invited to bring seeds to trade or give away. Everyone is invited, and it's not required to bring seeds to participate.
Participants are also invited to bring gardening or food justice-related materials, pamphlets and books to share. The seed exchange will be at the CSA Storefront (formerly Aradia Bookstore), 116 W. Cottage Ave.
Take Action Tuesday coming up
Flagstaff's Downtown Business Alliance's Take Action Tuesday program has selected the St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance — Flagstaff as its non profit recipient for November and December. The DBA's 40 members will donate 10 percent of their sales to the food bank on Nov. 24 and Dec. 22. Visit www.flagdba.com for a list of participating businesses.
Cowboy poets gather at MNA
Poets from around Arizona will stir up the air with poetry, song and open-range entertainment on Saturday at the Museum of Northern Arizona's Cowboy Poetry Gathering. The gathering will be held at the museum from 1 to 3 p.m.
Also, passages from Trappings of the American West artist Jerry Pinkney's book, "Black Cowboy Wild Horses" will be read. It's a true story of former slave and Texas cowboy Bob Leammons, whose tracking ability of wild mustangs was legendary.
Poets who will attend include Mary Abbott, Bill Burke, Phil Ellsworth, Audrey Hankins, Suzi Killman, Nika Nordbrock, Frank Rodrigues and Tom Weathers.
Festival of Trees and Lights
The Civic Service Institute is hosting The Festival of Trees and Lights, a community event in which local businesses participate in the decoration of a tree or menorah to support Senior Corps Programs.
The decorated trees and menorahs will be displayed beginning Saturday and through Dec. 11 in the Radisson Woodlands Hotel Lobby, 1175 W. Route 66.
Anyone can participate in voting on the best tree/menorah and may also bid on them with all proceeds supporting Senior Corps Programs.
