A Munds Park man charged with fraud after employees at a local bank discovered a fake-check cashing scheme involving more than $100,000 has pleaded innocent to the charges.
Michael A. McClain, III, 51, was in Coconino County Superior Court Tuesday to enter his plea after being indicted earlier in the month. He is accused of fraud schemes, forgery, attempted theft, criminal possession of a forgery device and computer tampering.
The charges allege that McClain created and passed bad checks and temporarily took possession of illegally obtained proceeds.
McClain is being held in the county jail in lieu of $200,000 bond. His next court date will be Dec. 15.
