A bill by U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Flagstaff, to increase government payments to disabled veterans, their survivors and their spouses has cleared the House and Senate.

It now awaits action from President Obama.

There was no immediate cost estimate from the Congressional Budget Office

Kirkpatrick has sponsored 13 bills this year, ranging from more funding for border security to one mining bill.

She has also signed onto multiple bills keeping fees for veterans' medical treatment from increasing, and seeking more compensation for various veteran expenses. Her district includes a Veterans Administration hospital in Prescott.

She has co-sponsored bills calling for members of Congress to not receive automatic raises next year, allowing out-of-state residents to carry concealed weapons in other states, and supporting withdrawing about 1 million acres of federal land surrounding the Grand Canyon from new uranium mining.
