" They will still ride in the vehicle lanes even though their lanes are wider. This bike guy is only riding far right of his lane because the camera is on him. If I have seen it once, I have seen it a million times, the bikers never share the road with vehicles traveling on Lake Mary Road. I have seen vehicles swerving into the oncoming lane just to avoid these bike dude and gals. Good thing there were no other vehicles traveling towards them. Look how good the white truck and vehicle at top stay in their lane, riders take note. Pretty sure the drivers of those cars have no idea their photograph was taken. And is that snow I see on the ground, we need that on the peaks. "

" Rlde... Grow up. I cannot believe I am dignifying you with a response.

28-815. Riding on roadways and bicycle paths; prohibition of motor vehicle traffic on bike paths

    A. A person riding a bicycle on a roadway at less than the normal speed of traffic at the time and place and under the conditions then existing shall ride as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway

Cyclists have rights to the road just like you. No one owns it. We can ride as far to the right as practicable meaning if something is in the bike lane blocking us (glass, debris, etc) we can take the lane.

I'm sorry you've seen motorists swerve into the other lane to avoid cyclists. I suggest that they drive more defensively and turn off their cell phones. "

The Daily Sun’s Web site is in the process of migrating to a completely new platform. It is a complex move, and one of the first steps requires us to turn off story comments. We hope to make the switchover in mid-December, when the comments will be reactivated. We welcome your story comments, so please watch for updates on our home page for news of their return.
