Prison sentence in Rez manslaughter case
A Lake Many Farms man was sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison after pleading guilty to driving drunk and killing a motorist in a traffic collision on the Navajo Nation.
According to information from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix, the involuntary manslaughter conviction of Amos John Jr., 42, came after he admitted to driving his girlfriend's car from a dirt road into the northbound lanes of Highway 191 near Chinle on Oct. 13, 2008. He hit a northbound truck, and during the collision, the driver of the truck was ejected from the truck and later died at a local hospital.

" I'm glad this guy is going to prison for driving drunk and killing an innocent person. I arrived at the scene of this accident shortly after it happened. The older gentleman who was driving the truck that was hit by this drunk was laying on the ground and his wife was crying in the truck while a semi-truck driver put the fire out. I'm so sorry to hear the man died. I directed traffic until help arrived and kept on-lookers at bay, clearing an area for the helicopter to land and medivac him to the hospital.
People certainly have to be cautious driving through the Rez and watch out for idiots driving drunk. "

Again thank you, but please understand that this just doesn't happen only on "indian" reservations. Open your eyes, "idiots" drive drunk and cause accidents everyday everywhere in the U.S., but most don't get media coverage because they didn't happened on a reservation (unless your a law enforcement officer with priviledge information).
