100 YEARS AGO -- Sheriff Francis has forwarded a description of suspect Leach to the authorities in the City of Mexico. It is understood that Mrs. Leach has gone there before him.
George Peterson has a good healthy limp in his right knee which he injured last week while branding a steer who objected to having pictures drawn on his hide with a hot iron. While George was carefully bumping his nose on the ground the steer changed sides flipping George over as well. Mr. E.E. Ball, Santa Fe civil engineer, informs us that he has plans in preparation for an addition of about 60 feet to the depot here. The addition will be built of red sandstone from the quarry east of town.
The present waiting room is large enough in the summer months when passengers can scatter out over the right of way along the track, but during the winter trains are often delayed and it is difficult to know where to locate oneself while waiting.
75 YEARS AGO
One of the most unusual films ever offered to picture goers is coming to the Orpheum Theatre. The picture "Back to Nature" will run Tuesday and Wednesday and goes into intimate details concerning the daily lives of thousands of men and women who believe in nakedness they have found emancipation as well as the much needed solution to their financial problems.
Strange tricks are being performed by the vegetation in the Coconino National Forest this year due to the unusual climatic conditions. After a dry period rains fell in September, followed by a warm season. Buttercups which usually bloom in early spring showed blossoms and in other areas the rubber weed which bloomed poorly in season came into full bloom in its usual going to seed season.

50 YEARS AGO
It was a "wet weekend" for Flagstaff police who arrested 26 drunks, and picked up three others for drunken and reckless driving.
Police Chief Epperson told the City Council the 755 of our city's crime occurs in the S. San Francisco St. area because of drinking conditions that it is becoming a "Wino Alley." The council turned down George Nackard's application to transfer his beer license from the Lynch subdivision to Mrs. Lupe Ruiz Esparza on S. San Francisco.
There are already four taverns, and three liquor and beer retail stores within a three-block stretch of the street.
The new 8000 sq. ft. $16,000 Mc Lellan Variety Store has opened at N. San Francisco and Birch. There's to be a drawing for 21" TV at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Harold. E. Krueger Manager.
25 YEARS AGO
The historic Arizona Lumber Co., a part of the Flagstaff business community since 1881, has sold all of its holdings to the RMS Development Co. of Phoenix. President Joseph P. Roirdan announced that sale will finale following the successful re-zoning of it 445-acre tract on the south side.
FUSD has filed a $88,000 suit against RHX Construction Co. over its problems with the new pool whose roof collapsed last December.
The City Council is seeking to lower the number of boards and commissions from its current number of 23. City Manager Frank Abeyeta says many of them no longer server the purpose for which they were formed.
Paul Babbitt has announced that he will not seek a third term as mayor saying that he needs to attend to the family business. He also said he may consider another term at a later time.
The DPS required for chains north from Stoneman Lake on Friday.

I've been thinking about all the complaints that these guys have no plan for their $30 billion bailout. But, that's unfair - they DO have a plan. Let's see, $30 billion - 3 CEO's - that would be ... how much apiece? What more of a plan do they need? "
